Privacy Policy
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Content Analyst Dashboard (the “Software”) handles data when you deploy and use it on your own infrastructure. This policy applies to the self-hosted version (v1.x) that you install and operate.
1. Data Controller
You (the Software Owner/Operator) are the data controller for any data processed through your instance of the Software. techzs (the Software Creator) does not have access to your deployment, your data, or your users' information.
2. Information the Software Collects
When you deploy and use the Software, it collects and stores the following data on your infrastructure:
2.1 User Account Information
- User credentials: Email, username, hashed passwords (bcrypt)
- Profile data: Name, timezone, language preferences
- Authentication tokens: JWT tokens for session management
2.2 Social Media Account Data
The Software connects to social media platforms via OAuth 2.0 and collects:
- Account information: Platform username, account ID, profile details
- OAuth tokens: Access tokens and refresh tokens (encrypted in your database)
- Content data: Posts, videos, images you publish through the Software
- Analytics data: Views, likes, comments, shares, engagement metrics from connected platforms
2.3 Content & Media
- Posts and drafts: Text content, captions, hashtags
- Media files: Images, videos, documents uploaded to the media library
- Scheduled content: Publishing dates, times, platform targets
- Reports: Custom analytics reports and exports
2.4 Usage Data
- Activity logs: User actions, content creation, publishing events
- Audit trails: Team member activities, permission changes
- System logs: Error logs, API call logs (stored locally)
2.5 Workspace Data
- Workspace information: Workspace names, settings, configurations
- Team data: Team member roles, permissions, invitations
3. How Data is Stored
3.1 Local Storage
All data is stored in YOUR PostgreSQL database on your chosen infrastructure:
- Local server (VPS)
- Cloud hosting (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.)
- Vercel with your chosen database provider (Neon, Supabase, etc.)
3.2 Data Security
The Software implements:
- Password hashing: bcrypt with salt rounds
- Token encryption: JWT with secret keys you control
- HTTPS enforcement: For production deployments
- OAuth 2.0: Secure authentication with social platforms
You are responsible for:
- Securing your server/infrastructure
- Managing database backups
- Configuring firewalls and access controls
- SSL/TLS certificate management
4. Third-Party Services
The Software integrates with third-party platforms. When you connect accounts, data is shared with:
4.1 Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Threads)
- Data shared: OAuth tokens, content for publishing
- Their policy: Meta Privacy Policy
- Your control: You can disconnect accounts anytime
4.2 Google/YouTube
- Data shared: OAuth tokens, video uploads, analytics requests
- Their policy: Google Privacy Policy
- Your control: Revoke access via Google Account settings
4.3 TikTok
- Data shared: OAuth tokens, video uploads (when feature is complete)
- Their policy: TikTok Privacy Policy
- Your control: Revoke access via TikTok settings
4.4 Google Gemini AI (Optional)
- Data shared: Analytics data for insight generation
- Their policy: Google AI Terms
- Your control: Disable AI features in settings
Important: Third-party platforms have their own privacy policies. Review them before connecting accounts.
5. Data Usage
The Software uses collected data to:
- Authenticate users: Secure login and session management
- Publish content: Post to connected social media accounts
- Track analytics: Collect and display performance metrics
- Generate reports: Create PDF, PPTX, XLSX, CSV exports
- Manage teams: Role-based access control and collaboration
- Store media: Centralized asset library
- Schedule posts: Auto-publish content at specified times
- Provide insights: AI-powered recommendations (if enabled)
6. Data Sharing
6.1 No Data Sharing with techzs
techzs (Software Creator) does NOT:
- Access your deployment
- Collect telemetry or usage statistics
- Receive copies of your data
- Have backdoor access to your instance
6.2 Your Responsibility
As the Software operator, YOU decide:
- Who has access to your deployment
- What data to collect from users
- Whether to share data with third parties
- How to comply with privacy regulations
7. Data Retention
You control data retention policies:
- Archive or delete old content as needed
- Export data before uninstalling
- Backup your database regularly
- Permanently delete user accounts when needed
The Software provides:
- Bulk delete functions
- Data export features (CSV, XLSX, PDF)
- Account deletion capabilities
8. User Rights
Users of YOUR deployment have the right to:
- Access: View their data via the dashboard
- Export: Download their data in various formats
- Delete: Request account and data deletion
- Modify: Update profile and preferences
- Revoke: Disconnect social media accounts
You must provide these rights in compliance with applicable laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
9. Cookies and Local Storage
The Software uses:
- Session cookies: For authentication (JWT tokens)
- Local storage: For UI preferences (theme, language)
- No tracking cookies: No analytics or advertising cookies
10. Children's Privacy
The Software is not intended for users under 13 years old (or applicable age in your jurisdiction). You must not knowingly collect data from children.
11. International Data Transfers
If you deploy the Software in one country and your users are in another, you are responsible for compliance with international data transfer laws and safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses).
12. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to v1.x (self-hosted version). For v2.0 (SaaS version), a separate policy will apply.
13. Security Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach, you are responsible for notifying affected users and following applicable laws.
14. Your Obligations
As the Software operator deploying this self-hosted solution, you agree to:
- Comply with applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
- Implement appropriate security measures
- Provide clear privacy notice to your users
- Obtain necessary consents for data processing
- Honor user data rights requests
- Maintain secure infrastructure
15. Data Processing Agreement
If you process data on behalf of your clients (agency use case), you may need a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) and must clarify your role as data processor vs. data controller.
16. Analytics & Monitoring
The Software does not include Google Analytics, third-party tracking, usage telemetry to techzs, or external monitoring. Any analytics you add are your responsibility to disclose.
17. Open Source Components
The Software uses open-source libraries (see package.json). These components have their own licenses and considerations.
18. Disclaimer
techzs provides the Software “as is” and makes no representations about data security or privacy compliance. You are solely responsible for your deployment's security, legal compliance, and breach response.
